A POSITIVE TREND FOR CEFLA

2018 was a very positive year for the Cefla Group, despite the uncertain global situation. Each of the five company’s Business Units acquired important contracts and at the same time continued with a strategy of investment and internal reorganisation aimed at being in the best possible position to face the challenges of the present day and of the future. The results of the Medical Equipment and Finishing Business Units in particular reached record values both in terms of volumes and profitability. Overall, 47 percent of income was generated in Italy, 30 percent in other European countries and 23 percent in the rest of the world. The consolidated Ebitda, equal to around 50 million euro, allowed for a positive cash flow, net of investments – entirely self-financed – of more than 30 million euro, especially from the Finishing BU (with its new range of roller machines and the new "ExyDry-Z" oven with excimer technology) and in the Medical Equipment BU...(read more)

NEW EXECUTIVE BOARD ELECTED

This year’s General Assembly of the Eplf, European producers of laminate flooring association, taking place at Antwerp/Belgium on June 5 and 6 on invitation of the Beaulieu/BerryAlloc Group, did not only celebrate the 25th anniversary of the association. Besides numerous political decisions a new executive board had to be elected: Max von Tippelskirch as president, Ruben Desmet as vice-president, and Eberhard Herrmann as member of the board. GLOBAL TRADE OF WOOD PELLETS

Global trade of wood pellets jumped more than 21 percent year-over-year in 2018 when a new record of 22.3 million tons was shipped, according to the North American Wood Fiber Review. The five major pellet exporting countries (the US, Canada, Vietnam, Latvia, and Russia) have remained the top exporters for over five years. They accounted for about 69 percent of the world’s export volume in 2018.
