“I have never had a tree, but now that I have it, I want to cuddle it”. That’s what the composer Giovanni Allevi said when he hugged the resonance spruce that Val di Fiemme wanted to give him. He was really excited.
The moving ceremony was held in the “playing wood” in Predazzo on Friday, 3rd of August. Allevi walked through the forest full of 200 year old red spruces, he chose one spruce and he folded his arms around the tree as if he would never separate from it.
Two other musicians have been involved in the initiative. Some days before, indeed, Uto Ughi and Mario Brunello had chosen their resonance spruce. With this exceptional ceremony, the tourist board of Val di Fiemme and the historical organization Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, which manages the woods, wanted to thank the three musicians for having participated to the “Soinds of Dolomites” festival, organized by Trentino spa.
The resonance spruce – a type of tree that Stradivari loved in a particular way and that today is appreciated by luthiers of all the world for its sound transmission quality – is an award given to all people that contribute to spread the image of a region through universal languages such as nature and music.
This year, in the “playing wood”, everybody can “meet” Uto Ughi, Mario Brunello and Giovanni Allevi trees. Allevi has dedicated his composition for piano and orchestra “Trecento Anelli” (“three hundreds rings”) to his tree.
