Record sales at WoodMac China

Celebrating the 10th anniversary edition with a 17 per cent increase in area over the last show in 2007, WoodMac China 2009 closed its doors last Friday, 20th February 2009, with exhibitors reporting record sales during the 4 day event. As the first show for the woodworking industry in China for 2009, many exhibitors were unsure what to expect of the China market, given the uncertainty created by the world financial crisis. The final results were better than expected which surprised and delighted participants. The majority of exhibitors with machinery on display sold them and a record number of orders were placed by customers from China and overseas.
A total of 406 exhibitors from 19 countries including pavilions from Germany, Italy and Spain participated at WoodMac China and associated events. 13,672 visitors attended the show of which 42 per cent came from Shanghai, 43 per cent from other Chinese cities and 13 per cent or 1,761 came from overseas.
