Great success for I Saloni 2009: over 300 thousand visitors

The 48th edition of I Saloni, ended yesterday, was a great success. “A great success of public – said Carlo Guglielmi, president of Cosmit – that we can note seeing exceptional influx data. An important signal that gives trust to the 2700 companies exhibitor and to all operators of our industry. We hope that this is the starting point of the economic resumption, that pass through our exhibition and our industry”.

At 12.30 of yesterday – emphasized Manlio Armellini, managing director of Cosmit – there were 304.702 visitors, of which 144thousand coming from 145 foreign country. The presence of German and Russian buyers was important and significant. The journalists were more than 5200”.

The last day of I Saloni 2009 was the occasion to announce two important projects. The first one was the beginning of a collaboration between Cosmit and the institutions of Milan, turned to an economic and cultural exploitation of the city, that capitalizes the positive experience of the Furniture show and the heritage of the town also in sight of Expo 2015. The project was announced by Giovanni Terzi – the Councilor to the production activities with delegation to design of the City of Milan – and involves Cosmit, Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Triennale di Milano and Adi.

After the visit of the president of the Council Silvio Berlusconi – said Rosario Messina, president of FederlegnoArredo – the entrepreneurs welcome his invitation to project and furnish the spaces that will give hospitality to the G8 in Abruzzo next July. Cinzia Ferrara, lighting designer, and the architect Ferruccio Laviani will sign the projects. FederlegnoArredo and Cosmit, with the support of Fiera Milano, will coordinate with the commissioner of the Government Guido Bertolaso to define the intervention details”.

Also about rebuilding of Abruzzo theme by FederlegnoArredo and Cosmit, from the Salone it was confirmed the engagement. “About the postseismic rebuilding – emphasized Carlo Guglielmi – we confirmed our total availability. As we said before, the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban is available to realize the collective and temporary housing spaces and we hope to concrete it soon. This initiative joins the Cosmit and Federlegno-Arredo project signed by the architect Mario Cucinella for the construction of a permanent place (in definition stage)”.
