There are just a few days to go before the first Sicam, the international exhibition of components, semifinished products and accessories for the furniture industry, officially opens at Pordenone Fairgrounds.

THE TRADE FAIR IN FIGURES
400 exhibitors, 21 thousand square metres of space, and thousands of visitors expected (huge numbers of pre-registrations have already been made from all over the world, showing the international scope of the exhibition): these are just some of the numbers involved in the inaugural Sicam Pordenone 2009, being held in Pordenone from 14 to 17 October 2009. This is an eagerly-awaited presentation, a début that will be proof of the enormous amount of work that has been done over the last few months to give the semifinished products and supplies sector a major, strong event, and an event that can rise to meet the requirements of practicality, professionalism and credibility that future economic scenarios require.
A COMPLETE SHOWCASE
The exhibition halls at Pordenone Fairgrounds will be an exceptionally rich and complete showcase of everything that currently contributes to the production of furniture and furnishings: from hardware to panels, door fronts and handles, equipment for the kitchen, wood and glues. Thousands upon thousands of solutions, answers and ideas that will be presented by the most important companies on the international scene. A lot of the big names in the sector will be there, representing all categories of goods: these are companies that have supported Sicam right from the start.
Sicam will have a layout that’s clear and effective, and which fulfils its design brief: to create a trade fair for exhibitors and visitors who are interested in this type of product. In other words, to create a fair that is exclusively targeted at those who actually work in this sector.
IN THE HEART OF THE DISTRICT
One of the major advantages of Sicam is its location, right in the centre of a “macro-district” with a long tradition of operating in the furniture sector: the Livenza area. Comprising the provinces of Pordenone and Treviso, Livenza is the biggest production area in Italy: over 40 percent of Italian furniture (a sector that overall includes 30 thousand companies, 200 thousand employees and sales of around 19 billion euro out of 22 billion for the entire furniture segment) is made here. This production has of course stimulated a huge induced economy, a very large share of which is in semifinished products, supplies and accessories for the furniture industry.
EVENTS DURING THE EXHIBITION
Events, conferences, and workshops of “real usefulness” for both exhibitors and visitors will be held in Pordenone. “Atra: resins and applications”, “Rapid prototyping”, “Futsu – Furniture trends update”, “Project fiberpol” and the areas managed by MaTech® point Friuli Venezia Giulia and Area science park will be the topics on which Sicam will train its spotlight”.
