The managing board of Acimall – the association of Italian manufacturers of woodworking machinery – has approved the promotion activities for 2011. The initiatives to support made-in-Italy woodworking technology will follow two main directions: participation in the leading industry exhibitions and creation-support of professional education and training centers around the world.
INDUSTRY EXHIBITIONS
In 2011, Acimall is attending Woodshow (Damascus, 15-18 February 2011; Acimall collective stand), Delhiwood (New Delhi, India, 17-20 February; Ice/Acimall collective stand), Woodmac China (Shanghai, China, 1-4 March; Acimall collective stand), Ligna (Hannover, Germany, 30 May-3 June; Acimall info stand), Lisderevmash (Kiev, Ukraine, 20-23 September; Sistema Italia*-Acimall); Ambiente (Zagreb, Croatia, 1-17 October; Sistema Italia*-Acimall), Fimma (Valencia, Spain, November; Acimall info stand), Woodex (Moscow, Russia, 29 November-2 December; Ice/Acimall collective stand). One remark: the “Sistema Italia” formula is based on collective exhibition areas with small information stands. There is one new initiative, too: this year, the Acimall stand will be provided with a “catalogoteque”, a dedicated space presenting the catalogs of all companies that are not participating directly, and an agent/importer search service.
“These innovations are essential,” says Dario Corbetta, marketing manager, Acimall. “Now more than ever, companies must optimize their promotion investments, and the specific mission of an association like Acimall is to do all we can to offer new opportunities, checking alternative channels and vehicles to get in touch with prospects”.
TRAINING CENTERS
Based on the experience in India and Siberia, Acimall is increasingly committed to the creation and support of professional education and training centers equipped with Italian machinery.
The Bangalore center – a flower in the buttonhole for Acimall, created in partnership with the Italian Foreign Trade Institute (Ice) seven years ago – is located in the premises of the local forest science institute and has achieved full operating independence. It is equipped with traditional machines offered at no cost by Italian companies and a working center borrowed from Biesse. Three trainers are currently active, employed by Ice Mumbai, and offer four different education courses.
In Novosibirsk, Acimall has equipped the laboratory of the local Professional School No. 50 with traditional machines supplied for free by its member companies. This is another initiative, launched in 2006, that is now fully independent and self-managed.
New projects are adding to these two implementations. In Damascus, we are identifying the site for a cross-industry training center, where young people will be trained to the use of woodworking equipment, as well as machines for the plastic and tanning industry. This project was launched with the support of the former Italian Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Claudio Scajola, and is carried out in collaboration with the Syrian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Again in Russia – but in Moscow, in the European region of that big country – Ice is financing the creation of a training center focused on primary wood processing.
The fifth center will be opened in Africa, in Gabon, witnessing to the ethic and social relevance of these initiatives promoted by Acimall. In Oyem, in the northern area of the country, a training center will be built in partnership with the local Diocese, which is already involved in professional education activities. Also in this case, Acimall will be supported by Ice and the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.
