Optimism is spreading for the next edition of Xylexpo, the biennial international exhibition of woodworking technology and furniture industry supplies to be held next 8-12 May 2012, Tuesday to Saturday, in the Milan Exhibition Center Fieramilano-Rho. This edition – the twenty-third – confirms the efforts of Xylexpo reasserting its role of reference event in even-numbered years in the international exhibition scenario. A record confirmed by the trend of exhibitor registrations, six months before the official opening.
“The next edition – comments Paolo Zanibon, general manager of the exhibition – will show once again our determination to “guide” the market and to be its truthful interpreter.The wood and wood-based products industry is experiencing a season of great change:more substantiality is needed, we have to pay attention to the substance of things.It is time – and exhibitions in the past eighteen months have shown this – to provide exhibitors and visitors with an even more effective service, without chasing records or vain appearance”.
Because the world of timber and related technology is still living a critical and difficult period undoubtedly. The months after Ligna in Hanover have not been generous at all. The situation continues to have “ups and downs” and there is a feeling that the month of May in Milan might be a possible and real opportunity to see the long-awaited trend reversal.
The framework will be “stronger”, with a consistent Xylexpo, designed to ensure the maximum optimization of spaces. “The trend of registrations – continues Zanibon – suggests that Xylexpo 2012 might reach 45 thousand square meters approximately, that is a 15-20 percent increase in exhibition surface compared with the latest edition; a percentage that would reflect the industry growth after the serious difficulties in 2009 and 2010”.
Now stand allocation has started for companies that have already confirmed their presence, a particularly challenging task, especially in Halls 1 and 3, dedicated to secondary panel processing. Most stands have been already allocated ”…and, only if registration levels are satisfying, we will consider to open also Halls 5 and 7 to panel machining”, Zanibon adds.
Indeed, today Xylexpo 2012 is expected to cover an exhibition surface of 40 thousand square meters in Halls 1-3 and 2-4, based on the best exploitation of available areas. The organizers are obviously ready to open all necessary halls, but in 2012 the slogan is going to be “maximum substantiality”.
Solid wood, thus, will be featured in Hall 2; in this segment, registrations are repeating the results of 2010, with most stands already allocated.
The same applies to Hall 4, which will be dedicated to first processing, a “strategic proximity”, the ideal sequel for the contents that will be gathered in the nearby hall, number 2.
“We are looking at the coming months with peace of mind − continues Zanibon – even if we know that they will be crucial for an idea of the final exhibition surface we may achieve. The presence of big German groups, the reaffirmed trust of many small, medium and large Italian and international businesses is encouraging us:according to our contacts and our marketing activity, it is clear that everybody will take part in Xylexpo, which remains – I repeat it – the reference event in Italy and in the world in even-numbered years”.
Such role will continue to be supported and promoted by a roadshow of meetings, events and press conferences that will lead us to next May. Xylexpo 2012 will be held during Tew-Technology Exhibition Week, featuring the most important technology shows including Plast (the international exhibition for plastics and rubber industries), Fluidtrans Compomac (the biennial international exhibition for fluid power technology and mechatronics) and Mechanical Power Transmission & Motion Control (the international biennial exhibition for mechanical power transmissions, motion control and mechatronics that will end on May 11).
