Now Catas (www.catas.it), the largest research institute, testing and control in the wood-furniture industry, has a new plant to be added to the existing laboratories and offices in San Giovanni al Natisone. A total investment of four millions euros for an area of over 2800 square meters over two floors. Here are, in addition to the chemical department, the laboratories of the food sector and environment department.
At the opening last December 3, which was attended by representatives of local and national businesses, all employees and friends of the Institute of Friuli, have brought their greetings the President of the Regional Council Maurizio Franz, the President of FederlegnoArredo Roberto Snaidero, the President of the Province of Udine, Pietro Fontanini, the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Udine, Giovanni Da Pozzo and the Mayor of San Giovanni al Natisone Franco Costantini.
For the President of Catas, Michele Bressan, this new office represents a decisive step in the development of the company and makes it consolidates its leadership position as a center of excellence for research and testing in the wood-furniture, but also for the analysis and promotion in the food industry and advice on environmental legislation. A really unique reality. “Catas, in fact, does not mean only wood, said the President – “the center works on different materials, from the ribs of the tunnels to the piano pedals, from cables railway platforms to the aids for the disabled, from awnings to the Juventus stadium seats, whose quality has been tested by this institution“.
With 40 employees in 2010 the Institute has carried out 30 thousand trials in wood-furniture, and 8 thousand in food industries. The projection for 2011 shows a further increase.
