The new Saie 2013 is ready to open its doors from 16 to 19 October in the Bologna exhibition centre. At last year’s show, focusing on the urgent issues that emerged following the Emilia earthquake and the economic crisis, we urged business, research and professional associations to work together to revive Italy’s construction industry at a Forum entitled “Rebuilding Italy”. This Forum has carried on its work with the aim of continuing these efforts.
The new Saie 2013 presents the results of this joint work by BolognaFiere, Ance and the Italian national professional institutes (engineers, architects, surveyors and geologists) with the direct participation of their chairmen, whom we wish to thank.
This joint work also saw the cooperation of lecturers and researchers from nearly 50 Italian universities and more than 20 building sector research institutes and centres, who together set up Saie’s new permanent Scientific Committee. All of these players will be present at Saie 2013, where they will present innovative technological solutions and a new exhibition format. This will include a Forum where professionals can keep abreast of developments in the industry by registering with the Lessons and Workshops and Innovation Laboratories to be held during Saie. Alongside the lessons there will also be technical demonstrations given by the companies to provide practical updates on the innovations present at the show. These will serve as educational events exploring the themes chosen by the Saie Scientific Committee. The Forum will begin each day with the General Meetings, where key Italian, European and international institutional figures will meet to discuss themes of Better Building and Smart Cities.
Fully aware that to overcome the crisis the sector needs a fresh vision and a wider range of activities, the aim of the new SAIE format is to create a new trade fair platform for the world of Italian construction, including businesses, technicians, experts, professionals and building and infrastructure site designers. For this purpose, the new Saie is divided into specialist theme areas: ‘Saie safe construction’, ‘Saie sustainable construction’, ‘Saie innovative design’ and ‘Saie construction site’. The broader exhibition formula embraces the construction of territorial infrastructures as part of the new urban environment that is already at the centre of all European and international innovation programmes and involves large networks for the cities of the future.
In this context, alongside the new Saie we have decided to organise this year the events “Smart City exhibition”, Expotunnel and Ambiente Lavoro to create a single large exhibition platform that is unique in Italy and covers all aspects relevant to the future of building.
