Federlegno: success for the first Wood-furniture Innovation Forum

Great interest for the first edition of Wood-furniture innovation Forum, held in Bergamo and organized by FederlegnoArredo with the sponsorship of Bocconi University and the Polytechnic University of Milan.
Over 270 companies were present at the scientific center Kilometro Rosso to learn about the 15 innovations selected from over a hundred proposals, by a scientific committee composed of research institutes, universities and industry specialists. “It’s an important day for wood-furniture industry” − says Roberto Snaidero, President of FederlegnoArredo − and the great participation has shown that our world is always ready to propose solutions that anticipate the future“.
Great expectations for the speech by Carlo Ratti, director of the Senseable City Lab at Mit in Boston, who emphasized on the concept of “SenseAble living” with examples of practical applications related to the world of furniture and future lifestyles.
It is important to point out that the products presented to this forum are born to those production systems that The Economist has called “third industrial revolution”; I’m talking about all the new digital technologies that are changing the way we produce, such as laser cutters and three-dimensional prints, that even in the wood-furniture industry allow you to combine the tradition of Italian craftsmanship throughout with new prospects for experimentation that widen the spectrum of creativity. An aspect which, in the coming years, will be a new selling point for the industry”.
Divided into five main areas (materials and products, working and processes; interconnectivity and software; sustainability and energy efficiency, business strategies, marketing models), innovations have gathered a great interest among the audience who had the opportunity to learn in detail solutions already in production.
