Egger Romania-site energy self-supplier since October

The Egger-site Radauti (Romania) announces the commissioning of its biomass cogeneration plant. The € 35 million project was built between September 2012 and October 2013. It is designed to exclusively supply the Egger production site with power and heat. The fuel comes from the waste material of the OSB and particleboard production. In its final stage, the power plant requires 220,000 t/yr of by-products and provides 83 MWth.
Egger’s panel plant in Radauti was built in 2008 and employs 750 people. In the past six years, the Egger Group invested € 473 million in the operation, according to a company’s press release.
