Salone del Mobile di Milano, the international furniture show, is a global reference for the interior decoration industry that offers a promotion opportunity and represents a vehicle to detect the trend lines in design and wood finishing.
In the exhibition areas of the most prestigious brands – many of which use Sayerlack or Oece coatings – Sherwin-Williams found the trends presented to its sales network during the sales meeting held at the beginning of the year. The offer of the most consolidated brands for lacquered wood is focused on dark shades, also in the case of open-pore lacquered wood types. Pastel colors are expanding, especially in different shades of grey and turtle dove.
In transparent cycles, favorite wood types include oak, walnut, ash, in natural or colored version with dark and warm colors, together with some semi-transparent pastel coatings, especially for grey shades.
Most items are finished with matte finishing, with less than five gloss, and there are very few glossy options.
Wood is increasingly matched with metal, leather, glass where the same colors are coupled with bright colors. Solutions for large environments, that look at the new wealth of emerging countries and wink at the economic recovery.
With the recently presented products and cycles, Sherwin-Williams has anticipated and continues to confirm the trends recorded at Salone del Mobile.
“Natural Wood” (At 0601/00) water-based finishing by Sayerlack gives wood a totally natural aspect as if no coating process had taken place, and it offers unique performance as to consistency of the matte coating, ensuring excellent chemical-physical resistance.
The new “Tzv 2303/Bb-Nn” acrylic converter completes the Sayerlack range of solvent-based converters, making the “Wood Color Plus” tintometric system universal. With the development of this converter, Sayerlack wanted to meet – for all the shades of the tintometric system –anti-yellowing needs and above all high water-resistance, typical features of acrylic products. It is available in 25 gloss version in white and neutral colors and it is suitable to be added to “Tp 2009/XX” pastes, starting from lacquered white for paste colors and neutral option for full colors.
The new open-pore white lacquered cycles, water or solvent-based, ensure excellent aesthetic results, outstanding pore definition, high insulation and colorimetric stability.
The new transparent cycles for natural effect, water and solvent-based, ensure an excellent definition of porosity, reduced glossing and reduced polishing of the wood surface.
Oece and Sayerlack coatings for glass and special effects offer a range allowing to meet all market requests as to effects: sanded, metalized, iridescent, etc. Then, Sherwin-Williams also offers a product range for plastics and metals.
Sayerlack coatings were the protagonists also at Cà Granda, the prestigious headquarters of Università Statale di Milano, at an event called “Feeding new ideas for the city” organized for the “fuori salone” circuit. “Endless Stairs”, the symbol structure of 2013 London Design Festival, already exhibited at Tate Modern in London, takes inspiration from the designs by Escher and it consists of a series of interconnected stairs made of solid wood X-lam panels of American tulipwood coated with Sayerlack products.
