Acimall at Salone del Mobile.Milano
For the first time ever, technology enters the Furniture Show in Milan. Well, that’s not exactly true: there will be no machine, no chips flying around, but nevertheless it’s going to be a great opportunity to reaffirm the role of “made in Italy” woodworking technology.
It’s exciting to be at Salone del mobile.Milano, no doubt. And that’s probably the best way to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the official foundation of Acimall, the association of Italian woodworking machinery and accessory manufacturers.
In hall 18, stand D10, in the area dedicated to modern furniture and decorations, there will be room to talk about the association and to discuss several topics, as well as to declare some “good intentions”.
Behind this participation there are several reasons, several topics that deserve to be mentioned, at least. First of all, a strong, clear signal announcing a new season of open collaboration with FederlegnoArredo.
After all, it was high time hard facts were acknowledged, namely that there has been a de-facto collaboration going on for decades, whereby Italian woodworking technology offers a substantial contribution to the success of “made in Italy” creativity and design. It is not mere chance that the big furniture districts – Triveneto, Romagna-Marche and Brianza – are home to tens of companies with an established business in the production of woodworking tools, designed to make furniture, among other things.
“All this depends on us” is the message launched by the Acimall stand at the Salone. It’s an unobtrusive, elegant, institutional stand, set up in collaboration with Ice, the Italian agency for the international promotion and globalization of Italian companies, which actively supports the initiative. The message will be effectively conveyed by visuals: a quick look around and the videos displayed at the Acimall stand will illustrate the importance of leading-edge technology to make furniture, the most beautiful ones, affordable to everybody.
The Acimall stand will also send out other messages, including an invitation to industry operators attending the Salone to come back to FieraMilano-Rho nex May 24 to 28, to visit the 25th edition of Xylexpo, the biennial wood technology exhibition we deal with in this issue.
This event somehow completes what you are going to see at the Salone, showing the solutions, technology and concepts that define the relationship between machinery and furniture, between tool and result. So, an opportunity to meet different worlds, to dialog with the design universe, to talk about the bridge that technology can build between an idea and a finished product. Technology in the forefront, then. How? We will simply display the tools we used fifty, one hundred years ago. The lineup will start from ancient equipment offered by the Tino Sana Foundation from Almenno San Bartolomeo (Bergamo), a museum that the wood and furniture community should know better. At the opposite end, pictures and videos will show what technology means today for wood and wood-based materials, the level of sophistication, expertise and innovation that Acimall member companies can offer at present.
And there will be much more, but we would really like you to come and see for yourself! So, see you in Milan, at Salone del Mobile.Milano, from 12 to 17 April. Mark your agenda: Hall 18, Stand D10!
