Back to Milan the usual appointment with Dassault Systèmes for the launch of the new release of Solidworks, a well-known portfolio of 3D design and engineering applications, now at its 26th edition. There are several novelties, many of which originate from the inputs received by the users, all aimed at speeding up the process that begins with design and comes to production, with a higher quality level and lower costs.
It is through the concept of “Model at the center of the process” that Marco Gazzetto – sales director for Balkans, Israel, Italy, Solidworks − and Gualtiero Marcellan, Solidworks technical sales director EuroMed, summarize the latest developments in this latest version of the software.
The new release − they explain − allows the various teams to collaborate in designing a product more quickly, validating its functionality and manufacturing, managing data and processes, streamlining and automating production and performing inspections and controls. Any modification to the project or production can be automatically extended to all related templates, programs, drawings and documentation, thanks to an integration of intellectual property in the project from the initial stages.
But the most significant novelty of Solidworks 2018, is certainly Solidworks Cam for Cnc programming, in order to easily integrate design and production. Designers and engineers are now able to better understand how products have been manufactured and, therefore, make weighted decisions as well as quickly design prototypes to better control quality, cost and delivery times. And more: Solidworks Cam allows workgroups to implement new “commodity production” strategies by designing tailor-made parts and automatically scheduling production at much faster times.
