The Woodtech Damietta second edition closed with a great public success and many concrete business occasions. After the experience in Cairo three weeks ago, this new “Woodtech project” step permits to look at the first Woodtech Egypt – Timber, design and furniture technology Exhibition edition, to be held in Cairo next February 16th to 18th, with great optimism.
“Last year experience taught us that Egypt is a very promising country, but it imposes to have a certain vision, a precise project if we want important results; an itinerary that will bring us, the organisers, and the exhibitors to join a single path. What happened in Damietta is its wonderful proof…”. This is the comment of Ilias Aggelopoulos, the managing director of Medexpo, the exhibition institution that decided to launch the Woodtech project in Egypt, after many “domestic” exhibition experiences.
Not only an exhibition, but a real itinerary with meetings and seminaries that allow Woodtech to know and be known from the operators of this peculiar market, building a consense and an attention for its own proposal day by day. A very demanding project that saw its second step from November 11th to 13th in Damietta – the egyptian city where the government decided to build a district dedicated to wood manufacturing and furniture production – that became the furniture and wood construction industry African capital. More than 4 thousand operators participated in the forum, having the chance to know the latest proposals from the main International realities.
This sector is demonstrating to have found in Woodtech its Egyptian showcase, a market in continuous expansion in the heart of a continent that is quickly accelerating. And the biggest International names are those who are recognizing the project validation, together with the local companies.
Supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Damietta, by the Chamber of Woodworking Furniture Industry and with the help of the Egyptian Architects and Designers Association, the Damietta event hosted visitors and delegations not only from Egypt and North Africa, but also from Malaysia, Kenia, Ghana and Russia. Those three days have been the scenario for more than 500 B2B meetings organized in collaboration with the Egyptian governative institution Imc-Industrial Modernization Center, focused on the strong furniture and high standard technologies demand necessary for the Dfc-Damietta Furniture City development.
Great interest also for the seminaries in which the speakers from everywhere presented not only products and industries, but also a selection of successful case histories from all over the world. University professors, Egyptian and German teachers from accademical degrees in design and relators from realities like Egger, Hafele, Scm Group and Imos talked about planning, materials, innovation, lighting, new trends in surfaces and decors, technology.
A success that underlines the excellent sensations from a few weeks ago, in occasion of the “Wood Design & Technology Seminar” first edition, at “Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel”, wanted by the sector industry and the Egyptian Architects and Designers Association, the protagonist of the “Woodtech Egypt” events from today on.
WOOTECH EGYPT
There’s no doubt: the third step will be the most important, the successful completion of two years of hard work that will end with Woodtech Egypt – Timber, design and furtniture technology Exhibition first edition, held in Cairo from February 16th to 18th 2018. Many prestigious exhibitors have already confirmed their presence.
“We will collect the results of our effort to contribute to a deeper and more modern production culture” commented Aggelopoulos. “We know that there’s a long way to go, but the first results are conforting us and they are showing that our will to build knowledge, competence and long-term relationships have a strong signification, that the market recognises and honours”.
It’s not a case that the event in February has been chosen by Epf-European Panel Federation to host a new session of the works for the “Epf for Africa” project.
