Pallet: growth in 2021 first quarter, wood prices problem

Conlegno, the cork wood services consortium, provided the first quarter numbers of the Epal and Fitok brands. In the 1st quarter of the year, the Epal brand starts to grow again following the positive trend of the wood packaging sector: from January to March, in fact, 2,979,168 pallets were produced (of which 1,811,184 new and 1,167,984 repaired ), the highest value ever recorded in a single quarter. Compared to the same period in 2020, the production of pallets grew by 7.5 percent (13 percent of pallets repaired, 4 percent of new ones). The data from Fitok, a brand that certifies the correct phytosanitary treatment of packaging and wooden components, is also positive: 758,495 cubic meters of wood were treated in the 1st quarter, 15 percent more than in the same period in 2020. In detail , 478,465 cubic meters were treated by subjects 7.1, i.e. those who perform HT or DH treatment on semi-finished, semi-finished and finished products, while production with HT treated semi-finished products by 7.2 subjects reached 280,030 cubic meters.
