Egger UK: a new 17 million euros of investment

13/09/2022

Egger UK, the UK subsidiary of the well-known wood-based materials manufacturer, has invested over 17 million euros in recycling operations at its Hexham site. An investment that further reinforces the company’s commitment to get more out of wood by improving the quality of recycled wood used to produce Egger’s chipboard.

The new recycling plant segments, cleans and chips waste wood that would otherwise be burnt or sent to landfill. The recycled material retains the carbon stored in the wood, which benefits the environment.

The increase in our recycled wood content responds to the demand for more environmentally friendly products from the interior design, furniture and home construction sectors. We are a major supplier to these sectors, so it is important to be at the forefront of sustainable product innovation”, said Alex West, product manager at Egger UK.
