Unece summit on 16 December about urban forestry

01/12/2025

A summit organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on 16 December will convene cities, countries and sector experts to share case studies and good practices on urban forestry. The meeting will bring together three of the organization’s flagship initiatives in a single forum: the Trees in Cities Challenge, the Trees in Dry Cities Coalition and the UN Petite Forests Network, focused respectively on urban leadership, resilience in arid regions and the development of small high-impact forests.

The three-hour session will be open to participants from all sectors, who may join the full programme or attend only the segments most relevant to their work. The detailed agenda will be released shortly. “This meeting offers a concrete opportunity for cities to compare approaches and experiences,” said Paola Deda, Director of the UNECE Forests, Land and Housing Division.
