Over 300 attendees in Lazise: Holzbau Forum Italia and the future of timber construction

More than 300 participants attended the conferences and a strong sense of the future could be felt both on stage and in the audience: the 2026 edition of Holzbau Forum Italia – Forum for Timber Construction has come to a close with significant numbers. The event took place on March 11 and 12, 2026 in Lazise, on Lake Garda, just a few kilometers from Verona.

The two-day event – preceded by an opening session and networking moments among professionals – brought timber construction, technical expertise and a vision for the future back to center stage. In a complex geopolitical moment, that future inevitably passes through sustainable and renewable materials. Wood, a historic yet increasingly technological material, was the true protagonist of the event.

Organized by the international platform Forum Holzbau, the congress represents one of Italy’s key events dedicated to the design and construction of timber buildings, bringing together architects, engineers, designers, companies and researchers from across the supply chain.

During the technical sessions, speakers addressed topics including innovation, structural durability, contemporary design and the digitalization of the sector, with contributions ranging from the use of natural materials to applications of artificial intelligence in architecture and construction.

Numbers, tradition, technical expertise and a forward-looking vision were clearly reflected in the presentations of the many projects showcased during the conferences—concrete examples of how timber construction is rapidly evolving and becoming increasingly central in the transition toward more sustainable building practices.

This path of discussion and innovation will not stop here. The world of timber construction will return to the spotlight in just a few months during the 29th edition of Xylexpo, the international biennial exhibition for woodworking and furniture technologies, scheduled to take place at Fieramilano Rho from June 9 to 12, 2026.

On that occasion, Holzbau Forum will make a stop in Milan with a special edition, bringing to the heart of the exhibition a moment of discussion dedicated to technologies, materials and ideas for timber construction.

The appointment is set for Tuesday, June 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the participation of Giuseppe Mosconi (CQ – Costruire in Qualità, Verona), Laura Marsillo (ICD/CA – University of Stuttgart), Andrea Pallaver (HSB Italia), Stefano Brunelli (Gropyus Technologies), Walter Bauer (Bauer Holzbau), Franco Piva (Ergodomus) and Francesco Marroni (LignoAlp-DamianiHolz&Ko).

A new chapter that will bring the Holzbau Forum experience directly into one of the world’s leading exhibitions dedicated to wood technology, confirming how construction innovation, sustainability and advanced design are now more than ever at the center of the future of building.
