Mmfa: a 2025 exceeding 100 million square metres

18/03/2026

Growing figures and optimism for the future. Members of Mmfa surpassed for the first time in 2025 the threshold of 100 million square metres sold across polymer and wood categories, reaching 103,539,445 square metres, an increase of 15 percent compared to 2024. The data were released during the association’s customary press conference, which represents manufacturers of multilayer modular flooring. According to Mmfa, the increase was mainly driven by specific regional markets and does not reflect uniform growth of the sector globally, which continues to be characterised by heterogeneous conditions.

In detail, growth was primarily supported by polymer-based products, which in 2025 totalled 95,477,025 square metres, marking a 16.36 percent increase year-on-year. The main driver remains the Spc (Stone Polymer Composite) category, which reached 85,739,929 square metres sold, with an increase of 26.64 percent compared to 2024. This segment now represents 83 percent of total sales by Mmfa members, consolidating its dominant position within the Mmf market.

The strengthening of Spc highlights a structural transformation of the market. Since 2019, its share has increased from 31 to 83 percent, while over the same period Lvt click declined from 48 to 5 percent and wood products from 14 percent to 8 percent. The 2025 data therefore reflect not only annual growth, but also a profound shift in product demand.

The other polymer categories showed declining trends. Lvt click fell to 4,937,448 square metres, representing a 45.98 percent decrease compared to 2024 and a 5 percent market share. Epc also recorded a decline, reaching 4,799,467 square metres (down 7.98 percent), also accounting for 5 percent of sales. The expansion of Spc is therefore continuing to concentrate demand within this specific product category.

From a geographical perspective, the United States remains the main market for polymer products among Mmfa members, with sales rising sharply by 63.14 percent to 28,514,597 square metres. In Western Europe, recovery is visible in several key markets: France reached 15.2 million square metres (up 9.15 percent), Germany around 13.2 million square metres (up 4.20 percent), and Belgium 2.5 million square metres (up 6.94 percent). In contrast, Italy recorded a decline of 5.75 percent with 3.9 million square metres, while the United Kingdom saw a contraction of 11.54 percent to 3.5 million square metres, confirming uneven construction dynamics across the region.

In Eastern Europe, positive results were recorded, with Poland at 3.8 million square metres (up 12.56 percent) and the Czech Republic at 2.0 million square metres (up 12.61 percent). Outside Europe and North America, performance appears more mixed: Asia recorded 2,876,501 square metres (down 2.48 percent), Africa 189,586 square metres (down 26.46 percent), while Australia and Oceania grew to 1,301,328 square metres (up 6.07 percent). Latin America recorded the strongest increase among these regions, reaching 888,733 square metres (up 15.05 percent).

As for the wood segment, the market shows signs of stabilisation in the main countries. Germany and Austria account for 83 percent of total sales, with Germany at 5.3 million square metres (down 1.09 percent) and Austria showing strong growth at 1.3 million square metres (up 35.97 percent). Switzerland stands at 308,348 square metres (down 11.88 percent). At regional level, Western Europe remains the main reference with 7,458,470 square metres sold (up 2.30 percent), while Eastern Europe declines to 348,426 square metres (down 28.28 percent), with the Czech Republic falling by 30.38 percent to 202,105 square metres.

Overall, the data confirm a structural transformation of the market, with increasing concentration of demand in SPC, stabilisation of wood products and a resizing of other polymer categories. Despite ongoing pressures in the global construction sector, the overall 15 percent growth indicates a strengthening of the market position of Mmfa members, supported by product innovation, technical performance and responsiveness to evolving demand.
