IMA Schelling acquires a stake in Sirio

The IMA Schelling Group is strengthening its presence in Italy by acquiring a stake in Sirio srl, a Treviso-based company specialising in automation solutions for machinery and production plants.

The agreement provides for a gradual acquisition. IMA Schelling will initially take a minority stake, while the full integration of the company is planned by 2028.

The transaction follows the acquisition of Carmet in 2023 and is part of the Group’s strategy to consolidate its position in the Italian market. Together with Carmet and IMA Schelling Italia, Sirio will contribute to strengthening the Group’s presence in Southern Europe, particularly in the batch-size-one plant segment.

“Over the past decades, Sirio has established itself as a specialist in automation solutions for machinery and plant engineering,” said Maximilian Lehner, Managing Director of IMA Schelling. “IMA Schelling and Sirio have a long history of working together. Building on this foundation, we now aim to create a stable transition that will open up future prospects for both companies.”

With the investment in Sirio, the Group aims above all to strengthen its engineering expertise, service capabilities and direct presence in the Italian market.

“Despite the difficult situation in the industry, we want to actively drive change,” Lehner added. “With our stake in automation specialist Sirio, we are strengthening our structures, service capabilities and engineering expertise directly in the local market. Customers in Italy will benefit from shorter distances and even better support.”

The transaction is part of IMA Schelling’s international development strategy, based on investments in key markets, a stronger regional presence and strategic industrial partnerships. By 2030, the Group aims to further strengthen its market position and develop new areas of growth.
