class=\"bumpedFont20\">April-June 2020<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\"> term has brought no surprising news, unfortunately, and the quarterly survey by the Studies office of Acimall \u2013 the Confindustria member association of wood-furniture technology companies \u2013 depicts a difficult situation:<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s15\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">drop in orders<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\"> of woodworking machinery and tools is strong, in line with all the segments of mechanical engineering and the entire economy.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Such result was inevitable, considering the lockdown of factories in April and the slow, gradual recovery of manufacturing operations in May.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">The month of June was &#8220;fully operational&#8221;, but it could not save the final result of the third quarter, deeply affected by massive layoffs and remote working, which inevitably changed the organization model of most companies.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">So, we can only wait for a demand rally that, according to several sources, is expected in the coming months, both from the domestic market and from abroad.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s19\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"s19\"><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Let\u2019s come to figures.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">the quarterly survey \u2013 carried out on a statistic sample that represents the entire industry \u2013 shows that the Italian industry of woodworking machinery and tools recorded <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s15\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">a 39.2 percent reduction of orders <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">compared to the same period of last year, resulting from minus 34.2 percent in international demand and an impressive 59.2 collapse in domestic demand.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s19\"><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">The <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s15\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">orders book<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\"> extended across 2.4 months (versus 2.6 Q1) and, since the beginning of 2020, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s15\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">prices have increased <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">by 0.5 percent (0.8 percent at the end of March 2020). <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s15\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Revenues<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">decreased as well, by an average 29.8 percent.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s19\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"s19\"><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">The <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s15\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">quality survey <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">speaks for itself and reflects the expectations of business owners:<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">7 percent of the interviewees indicate a positive production trend (versus 12 percent in Q1), while 86 percent reported decreasing production (versus 69 percent in January-March); the remaining 7 percent indicate a stable situation (versus 19 percent).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s19\"><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Surprisingly, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s15\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">employment<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\"> is &#8220;holding on&#8221;:<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">at the end of the first quarter 2020, 69 percent of companies expected a decrease in employment, now this figure has gone down to 47 percent, while 53 percent believe the employment trend will be stable (versus 75 percent three months ago).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">No one expects a positive trend for employment.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s15\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Available stocks<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s17\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\"> are stable according to 27 percent of the sample, while 20 percent expect growth and 19 percent
