Sustainability is a core concept also in the world of furniture, windows and fittings: a parameter that guides industrial choices, influences markets and shapes customer preferences. In this scenario, Maco<\/strong> \u2013 a well-known player in the production of hardware for windows, doors and sliding systems \u2013 confirms and further strengthens its commitment, making it increasingly concrete and measurable.
\nThe recent \u201cFuture Report 2024\/25<\/strong><\/em>\u201d<\/em> documents the progress made by the Austrian company, which in the same year was awarded the \u201cEnergy Globe Styria Award 2025<\/strong>\u201d for its production site in Trieben. Here, the \u201cRaus aus Gas<\/strong>\u201d project made it possible to reduce gas consumption by 40 percent thanks to high-temperature heat pumps, cold storage systems and reduced use of spring water. A result that demonstrates how energy efficiency and CO\u2082 reduction are no longer abstract goals, but concrete and award-winning achievements.
\n\u201cOur commitment makes us reliable partners and at the same time stimulates innovation and quality<\/em>,\u201d underlines Mario Neuwirth<\/strong>, Group CEO. This focus is reflected in products designed according to ecodesign<\/em> criteria and material optimisation, also thanks to the calculation of the Circularity Index, which makes it possible to identify the most environmentally suitable combinations of raw materials.<\/p>\n

On the energy front, all the Group\u2019s sites are powered by renewable sources: hydroelectric, wind and photovoltaic energy, with more than one million kWh produced in-house<\/strong> already in 2024. Waste heat is reused for heating, while logistics focuses on intermodal transport, with extensive use of rail for steel and zinc supplies, significantly reducing emissions.
\nAs the company has pointed out, the commitment also extends to the supply chain, with 80 percent of materials purchased locally or in neighbouring countries. A strategy that reduces distances, limits environmental impact and strengthens cooperation with partners able to document low climate-impact production processes.<\/p>\n

Particular attention is paid to steel and zinc, key raw materials for Maco: among the initiatives, the use of steel with scrap content of up to 99 percent<\/strong> and collaboration with zinc suppliers with reduced CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong>, achieving results up to seven times lower than traditional standards.<\/p>\n

The path toward sustainability also runs through process innovation. Among the examples: 3D production for small series, which avoids the creation of dedicated moulds, reducing material and energy consumption; the reorganisation of production plants, which cuts internal transport and processing times; the constant renewal of the machine park with more efficient and less energy-intensive technologies. In addition, detailed monitoring of energy consumption, made possible by the installation of new meters, allows waste and areas for intervention to be identified in real time.
\n\u201cCreating tomorrow. Joining forces\u201d is the slogan that sums up this philosophy: building the future together, with consistency and transparency.<\/p>\n

In recent years, Maco has seen its commitment to sustainability confirmed through several awards and certifications. After four \u201cklima:aktiv\u201d recognitions and a nomination for the \u201cEnergy Globe\u201d, in 2025 the \u201cEnergy Globe Styria Award\u201d arrived for the Trieben plant, awarded in the \u201cIndustry and Economy\u201d category thanks to the \u201cRaus aus Gas\u201d project, which made it possible to reduce gas consumption by 40 percent and significantly decrease the use of spring water.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
