SCM<\/strong> reopened the doors of its Technology Center in Rimini and the market responded strongly, despite a far from simple geopolitical and economic context. The Open House organized by the group from March 12 to 14 at its headquarters attracted more than 3,000 visitors from 60 countries<\/strong> and over one thousand companies from the sector. The most represented markets were Italy, Poland, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. The participation of the commercial network was also significant: more than 300 dealers from around the world attended the Sales&Dealer Meeting on March 10 and 11 to preview the company\u2019s latest developments.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not all. In addition to the various product innovations, the event also focused on a new factory model in which \u2013 according to the Rimini-based group \u2013 competitive advantage no longer depends \u201conly\u201d on the machine or the plant, but on an integrated ecosystem of technologies, services and software capable of making production processes more connected, flexible and sustainable. In this scenario, after-sales services are also playing an increasingly important role, becoming more proactive thanks to the use of artificial intelligence and the data collected from more than 5,000 SCM machines connected worldwide.
\n“Our teams work closely with customers, supporting them in their daily activities to help them maximize machine performance while improving efficiency and productivity. A relationship we are further strengthening thanks to new digital tools and sensor systems that allow us to intervene before potential issues occur,\u201d <\/em>said during the press conference Pietro Gheller<\/strong>, director of the group\u2019s Wood Division.<\/p>\n

The group has also accelerated the development of integrated and automated engineering solutions, strengthening its offering with systems developed by Tecno Logica. \u201cIn 2025 SCM<\/a> increased its international market share despite the challenges of the global context. Growth was mainly driven by strong performance in several European markets and by the development of cell and integrated line projects for key players in the sector,\u201d <\/em>said Gabriele Patti<\/strong>, SCM\u2019s sales director. On the technology front, the Open House also served as a showcase for 15 new solutions designed for the various segments of wood processing: from panel sizing to CNC machining centers for the furniture industry, solid wood and timber construction, as well as window and door production lines, finishing systems for extra-matte effects, moulding and tenoning solutions. Among the new products presented were also new band saws designed for artisan woodworking.
\n\u201cThe SCM Open House<\/em> \u2013 concluded Gheller \u2013 represented an important opportunity to share with dealers and customers a new phase for the sector, exploring new paths to evolve the business. The participation and international interest recorded confirm that this path is now more necessary than ever to compete in the market.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

TECHNOLOGIES<\/h3>\n

Comprehensive software solutions and digital services<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A key focus of the event was an integrated service ecosystem<\/strong> designed to help manufacturers achieve higher production efficiency, greater operational control and continuous uptime. The system leverages advanced technologies capable of transforming machine-generated data into actionable operational support.
\nAt the core of this modular architecture is “WinMES”<\/strong>, SCM\u2019s Manufacturing Execution System engineered in partnership with Tecnest, a specialist in advanced software for production planning and supply chain management. Acting as the factory\u2019s true digital brain, WinMES integrates and interprets real-time data to optimise production flows, accelerate operational decision-making and enhances overall plant reliability.
\nAmong the highlights was “Smart Spindle”<\/strong>, the advanced spindle-sensor system that enables predictive analysis and helps prevent unplanned machine downtime.
\nTo safeguard the entire ecosystem, SCM has also integrated advanced cybersecurity solutions<\/strong>, ensuring protection for data, processes and infrastructure.
\nAlso presented was “Additional Care”,<\/strong> the programme introduced in January 2026 for all new SCM machines. It provides comprehensive protection through extended warranty coverage on spare parts and technical support, along with a three-year maintenance plan, ensuring more stable, secure and reliable production over time.<\/p>\n

Automation and integrated machining cells<\/strong><\/h4>\n

SCM showcased an integrated sizing and nesting cell for batch-size-one production<\/strong> combining advanced automation, operational flexibility and reduced energy consumption.
\nThe system includes: “flexstore hp”, <\/strong>the automatic storage system<\/strong> capable of handling all panel formats, retrieving offcuts and organising sorting in advance. It supports the cell\u2019s logistics even during unmanned shifts, ensuring maximum efficiency and customised stock management; “gabbiani gt 2″<\/strong> single-blade panel saw<\/strong>, fed by the automatic storage system and an anthropomorphic robot, capable of performing single or book cuts with high productivity. Thanks to the Maestro Stackwise software<\/strong>, panel layout is optimised to reduce waste and increase material yield. “morbidelli x200″<\/strong> nesting CNC machining centre<\/strong> with integrated robot for automatic unloading into organised stacks and temporary parking. The system guarantees gentle, non-sliding handling and maximum flexibility from loading to finished piece.
\nAlso on display was “stefani cell E”<\/strong>, a compact and automated entry-level solution for batch-size-one production. It transforms the edgebanding of pre-squared panels into an efficient and high-quality process. Ideal for small and medium-sized enterprises aiming for high production performance.
\nAlso central to SCM engineering offering were the integrated advanced automation and robotic systems by Tecno Logica<\/strong>, designed to support extremely high production capacities even in highly diversified and complex scenarios across multiple sectors, from woodworking to automotive and broader industrial applications.<\/p>\n

New CNC machining centres<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Two new models were unveiled for the accord<\/strong> range, designed for machining both solid wood and panels. “accord 400″<\/strong>, featuring the new \u201cflexmatic pro\u201d worktable <\/strong>with automatic positioning of pods and clamps. The machine is available in pre-set configurations according to the application<\/strong> to provide the solution best suited to the customer\u2019s requirements. “accord 500edge”<\/strong> which stands out from the rest of the range thanks to the H80C \u201cCompact\u201d edgebanding technology<\/strong>, which allows operations with various types of edges and glues and enables the automatic change of edge application type. Also on display was the “morbidelli x50″ nesting centre<\/strong> equipped with a new<\/strong> integrated<\/strong> lifter system <\/strong>that ensures safe and fast handling of any laminate and chipboard panel.<\/p>\n

Panel processing<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The new “<\/strong>gabbiani af”<\/strong> beam saw<\/strong> range was presented in a world preview at the Villa Verucchio production plant. The range introduces several key innovations, including unrivalled production times thanks to new rapid work cycles, advanced motorisation systems, an innovative saw blade carriage with power up to 27 kW<\/strong>. Operational units have been optimised to reduce energy consumption while maintaining high-precision cutting performance. Other strengths of the gabbiani af range include simplified machine maintenance and maximum operator safety.<\/p>\n

Also in evidence was “celaschi p20″, new automatic double-end tenoner<\/strong>, the most compact in the range. It stands out for its high productivity and precision and is ideal for small and medium-sized enterprises producing wooden panels and alternative materials for construction, insulation, industry, doors and solid wood components<\/strong>. Whether used as a stand-alone machine or integrated into a production line, it ensures maximum application flexibility. Process control is intuitive and comprehensive thanks to the Maestro active square<\/strong> HMI software.<\/p>\n

Windows and doors production and solid wood processing<\/strong><\/h4>\n

One of the key highlights was the new “windorflex line”<\/strong>, which combines productivity, flexibility and advanced automation. The line integrates the windorflex 2 cell with robotic loading and unloading within a complete system capable not only of carrying out machining operations, but also of managing the preparation of semi-finished products and automated storage of both raw materials and finished workpieces.
\nThe solution is designed for large companies that must handle increasingly fragmented production organised in small batches without compromising maximum efficiency.
\nNew features were also introduced for the “windor nt1″ angular machining centre<\/strong> equipped with the new “Optima BR” drilling-routing unit<\/strong> to carry out all complementary machining, including horizontal milling, and the innovative Maestro active windoor <\/strong>interface software.
\nAlso on display was “superset nt”<\/strong>: the automatic throughfeed moulder equipped with the new electronic control <\/strong>including the “eye-S” console fitted with 10\u201d colour touch-screen display and the “Maestro active 4-side” <\/strong>software, for the machining of profiles for windows, doors, stairs, beads, frames and furnishings.
\nOn show also “connexus fj”<\/strong>, the new CNC tenoning-mortising solution designed to meet all the machining demands for different kinds of solid wood or coated MDF, including complex joints such as Miter Door, Face Frame and French Joint on cabinet doors and shutters.<\/p>\n

Timber construction<\/strong><\/h4>\n

SCM presented – in an immersive digital experience – the new “area gl”<\/strong>, 5-axis CNC machining centre, engineered to ensure high performance, precision and reliability in the machining of straight and curved glulam elements<\/strong> intended for public building roofs, multi-storey buildings and infrastructure projects.
\nKey features include a work area up to 5\u00d750 metres<\/strong> and the possibility to perform pendulum machining<\/strong> thanks to exclusive mobile fences. Programming and control are managed through the innovative CAM “Maestro lab beam&wall<\/strong>“and SCM\u2019s “Maestro active HMI”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Superfici finishing solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n

The focus of the area dedicated to surface finishing was the matt effect<\/strong>, a continuously growing trend in the furniture world. Superfici unveiled “Supermatt”<\/strong>, a new physical matting system capable of achieving ultra-low-gloss finishes with a velvety tactile effect and outstanding durability.
\nSimple, high-performing, and accessible, the new system ensures reduced operating costs and easy integration even into existing lines, with a limited investment.
\nPhysical matting becomes straightforward and expands the aesthetic possibilities of coated surfaces, increasing production flexibility.
\nThe system is fully compatible with roller, curtain coater, or spray applications.<\/p>\n

Joinery machines<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Previewed at the event were the “s 50n”<\/strong> and “s 90n”<\/strong> models, among the new entries in SCM\u2019s complete range of band saws. These solutions combine robust construction, high-quality materials and maximum safety. Cast-iron worktables and flywheels ensure highly precise cutting, telescopic blade guards guarantee maximum safety during every stage of operation, and powerful motors with electronic brake or inverter deliver high performance and long service life.
\nAlso on display was “nova si 4″<\/strong>, the most versatile circular saw in its category, featuring a new highly reliable sliding carriage \u2014 guaranteed for 10 years \u2014 and extensive customisation possibilities according to specific application needs.
\nGreat interest was also generated by the innovative \u201cblade off\u201d safety system <\/strong>for circular saws, which minimises intrinsic risks through an intelligent detection system and an efficient blade-exclusion mechanism.<\/p>\n

Aluminium machining<\/strong><\/h4>\n

For the first time on display was the “MC 307 Falcon”<\/strong> by Mecal Machinery<\/strong>, a company of the Scm Group. This 4-axis machining centre for aluminium, PVC, and steel profiles ensures high precision and productivity. It is the fastest in its class (up to 150 m\/min) and stands out for its flexibility in machining aluminium profiles for both fenestration applications (doors, windows, fa\u00e7ades) and furniture components (kitchens, wardrobes, office partitions, etc.).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
