In a market environment marked by strong volatility and increasing regulatory complexity, the ability to build networks is an essential strategic factor. Through the work of Assoimballaggi and FederlegnoArredo, we can strengthen the representation of our companies and bring the sector\u2019s voice more effectively to institutional decision-making tables<\/strong>, both nationally and at European level, actively contributing to the development of the policies that are reshaping the entire packaging supply chain. Our commitment will be to support companies through this transformation, with particular attention to the competitiveness and sustainability of the industrial system<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n During the Assembly, participants also reviewed the sector\u2019s performance and the main regulatory developments<\/strong>, with particular reference to Extended Producer Responsibility and the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, or PPWR<\/strong>. This is one of the most significant packaging reforms introduced in recent years and is expected to have cross-cutting effects on almost all companies that use packaging<\/strong>. It will apply throughout the European Union from 12 August.<\/p>\n In the afternoon, the public session of the Assembly was held in the presence of the President and Secretary General of FEFPEB, with an in-depth discussion on the PPWR led by CONAI and Interzero Italia.<\/p>\n The packaging sector, which includes pallets, industrial packaging and food packaging, exceeded \u20ac2 billion in turnover in 2025<\/strong>, according to data from the FederlegnoArredo Research Centre, recording 4 per cent growth<\/strong> compared with the previous year. This confirmed the overall resilience of the sector despite strong cost pressures. Foreign trade, which accounts for only a marginal share of the sector, recorded broadly stable exports, down 1.3 per cent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The issue of raw material prices<\/strong> was also a key focus. The increase in the cost of wood<\/strong> continues to have a significant impact on the packaging sector.
