The Executive Committee of FederlegnoArredo\u2019s Assolegno association has elected Daniele Servadio as its new president for the 2026\u20132030 term. The association represents companies operating in primary wood processing and timber construction.<\/p>\n
The new president\u2019s objectives include safeguarding the competitiveness of Italian companies, strengthening the sector and enhancing the role of structural timber in the sustainable transition. This means promoting a vision of the supply chain not merely as an expression of a renewable material, but as a strategic industrial sector built on expertise, innovation and high regulatory standards.<\/p>\n
\u201cSustainability, decarbonisation and land safety are now market drivers defined at both European and national level. In this context, timber can fully express its value, thanks to a supply chain that combines expertise, innovation and design capabilities. Building with timber requires specialist skills, rigorous design and high quality standards. Our challenge is to consolidate the role of structural timber as a strategic component of contemporary construction, enhancing the knowledge and experience of companies while supporting the development of the sector,\u201d Servadio said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to thank the Executive Committee for placing its trust in me, as well as outgoing president Claudio Giust for the work carried out at the helm of the association in recent years. During my term, we will work to strengthen dialogue with institutions and stakeholders, support the competitiveness of companies and enhance the contribution made by the structural timber supply chain to the sustainable transition, including in terms of energy efficiency, seismic safety and a reduced environmental footprint.\u201d<\/p>\n
The priorities for the new term also include enhancing Italy\u2019s national forest heritage by encouraging short supply chains and primary processing through closer cooperation with forestry companies and local sawmills, generating positive effects throughout the wood and furniture supply chain.<\/p>\n
Particular attention will also be paid to strengthening human capital and the skills required to support the sector\u2019s development, while fostering increasingly close dialogue at local level with the education and training system.<\/p>\n
Assolegno is one of FederlegnoArredo\u2019s statutory associations. It promotes quality and sustainability in timber construction and maintains an ongoing dialogue with institutions and the main industry associations in Italy and Europe, as well as with national and regional clusters and the relevant technical bodies. Its objective is to support the growth and competitiveness of the sector.<\/p>\n
Over the next four years, the president will be supported by Assolegno\u2019s new Executive Committee, comprising Cristian Cozzi, Representative for the Timber Houses Group; Marino De Santa, Representative for the Contractors Group; Adriano Domini, Board Member for the Primary Processing Group; Claudio Giust, Board Member for the Timber Houses Group; Luigi Iavarone, Board Member for the Primary Processing Group; Onofrio Mattina, Board Member for the Contractors Group; Simone Claudio Panichi, Representative for the Primary Processing Group; and Annalisa Rainoldi, Board Member for the Primary Processing Group.<\/p>\n
ASSOLEGNO: INDUSTRY DATA<\/p>\n
Assolegno represents Italian companies active in the production of sawn timber, the manufacture of structural elements in solid and engineered timber, the prefabrication of building systems, and the assembly of timber buildings and engineering structures.<\/p>\n
Turnover for the Building Products System, which includes timber structures, timber roofs and timber houses, returned to growth in 2025, increasing by 2% to approximately \u20ac3.2 billion, according to data from the FederlegnoArredo Research Centre.<\/p>\n
Production for the domestic market accounted for 87% of total value and, following growth of 1.2%, reached almost \u20ac2.8 billion.<\/p>\n
Exports amounted to \u20ac419 million, up 7.5%, driven in particular by growth in glulam products and timber structures. Imports rose by 17.6% to more than \u20ac830 million, with significant increases recorded for semi-finished construction products.<\/p>\n
In 2025, turnover among companies operating in primary wood processing remained broadly stable, increasing by 1%. However, Istat indices show considerable upward pressure on prices, which rose by 9.4% compared with 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
