THE SALONE DEL MOBILE.MILANO: BEYOND DESIGN

This was explained by Emanuele Orsini, president of FederlegnoArredo, during the press conference to present the Milan furniture fair "Salone del Mobile.Milano" held on February 14th at the Triennale.
After the due exhortation on Italian know-how and on the innovation-industry-vision triad, he stressed the numbers. Not those of the Salone, but those of the wood/furniture sector. These are important numbers, of course we know them, but it does not hurt to update them: eighty thousand companies represent 16.5 percent of the Italian industrial chain and the turnover of forty two thousand billion euro contributes to five percent of the national Gdp. These numbers give a different interpretative key to the most significant international event: the Salone is "its businesses", those that exhibit and those that are not present, but essential. A POSITIVE YEAR 2018 BUT...

Another positive year for the wood technology industry, although the trend survey for the last quarter arises some questions that should be taken into consideration. Again this year we can say that “…the barometer for woodworking and furniture industry machinery and plants keeps pointing to nice weather“. We used the same expression at the end of 2017, which closed with 11.6 percent growth over 2016, and we are repeating it this year to tell you about an excellent 9.5 percent growth recorded by production in the past twelve months compared to 2017. INTERZUM 2019

From May 2019, (from 21 to 24) the world will meet up in Cologne again for Interzum. The event represents a source of inspiration for the design of the living spaces of tomorrow and presents the most innovative products along with technical and material innovations. The diversity of products on show makes it the world’s leading trade fair for furniture production and interiors. BIESSE DEUTSCHLAND, NEW BUILDING

Biesse Deutschland, a specialist in the Cnc processing of wood, plastic, glass and stone, has made another step along its path to success. At the beginning of March, the business will move into its new building, the Ulm campus in a new business park in Nersingen, near Ulm. Biesse Deutschland is part of the internationally active Biesse Group and has grown continually since its foundation in 1997. The new location stands out above all for its location, ideal as far as infrastructure is concerned, precisely at the point where Autobahn 7 meets Bundesstraße 10. STRONGER EU FOREST STRATEGY

On the 11 of January 2019, major representatives of the European forest owners, managers, contractors and the forest-based industry have come together to issue a joint call to the European Commission, Parliament and Council to update the Eu forest strategy with the aim to strengthen its role as a key reference for sustainable forest management.
