Advanced logistics for the handling of raw materials

After 15 days of navigation, the motorship Keoyang Majesty has recently landed at the port of Monfalcone (Trieste). The motorship carried 33,500 tons of Caribbean pine, splinters of wood coming from sustainable plantations in Venezuela and controlled by Ersa service (www.ersa.fvg.it). This wood will be used for the production of Fantoni (www.fantoni.it) mdf panels.
Especially interesting and innovative was the handling of goods from the port to Osoppo (Fantoni’s headquartes near Udine), for which, despite the very short distance, they used the railway. Thanks to this kind of transportation it was possible to take off from the roads about 1200 trucks, during the exodus period for the summer holidays.
It was possible to achieve this brilliant result thanks to the collaboration between the several actors involved in logistics industry and co-ordinated by the logistic operator InterRail (Udine), that is headed by Fantoni and Abs.
