Homag changes from AG to GmbH

Homag Holzbearbeitungssysteme AG based in Schopfloch, Germany, has changed its legal form and has been trading since October 6th under the new name Homag Holzbearbeitungssysteme GmbH. This change signals greater concentration on its core business as a producing company, while for Homag Group AG the emphasis will shift towards its key role of Group management.
Spokesman of the new Management Board at Homag Holzbearbeitungssysteme GmbH is Achim Gauß (49), who is in charge of the Research, Development and Design Divisions. The remaining Board members are Ulrich Schmitz (50) in charge of Sales, Servicing and Marketing, Michael Stotz (34), with responsibility for Finance, IT and Human Resources, and finally Herbert Högemann (56) for Production, Materials Management and Quality Management. Achim Gauß and Herbert Högemann also sit on the Management Board of Homag Group AG.
With this efficient new structure, a competent management team and its qualified workforce, the company considers itself ideally placed to face future tasks and challenges. The company’s commitment to its German base in Schopfloch has also been underpinned, with the Homag Center newly built and inaugurated in Schopfloch in 2009 set to accommodate not only Homag Holzbearbeitungssysteme GmbH but also provide the Group headquarters for Homag Group AG.
The change of name is a continuation of the impressive Homag success story which started 50 years ago on January 1st, 1960. From modest beginnings, the two founders Gerhard Schuler and Eugen Hornberger built up what has now become the world’s leading corporation in the field of woodworking machinery, with an estimated world market share of 25 per cent and a workforce of around 5,000. Homag Group AG has also been listed on the stock exchange since 2007.
