Biofuels from wood waste

A Finnish research, financed by EU funds, has found that through the use of technologies already tested, it is possible to draw green fuel from wood processing wastes. The most suitable technique for the conversion of wood waste, forestry and sawmill in methanol, dimethylether, mixtures of hydrocarbons and gasoline, would be the gasification process transforming waste into carbon monoxide and hydrogen and then into liquid fuels.
The system ensures high performance, a 300 MW biorefinery ensures recovery of 50 to 67 percent, up to 80 percent if you use the plant for district heating. The production of eco-friendly fuels will be competitive even for the price, around 0.5-0.7 euro per liter.
