Assolegno: presented the “Italian Wood Exchange”

The general assembly of Assolegno was held on 14 October, during which the “Italian Wood Exchange” project was presented, which aims to bring together the entire wood supply chain. A project that comes at a “complicated” moment in which raw materials are difficult to find and wood prices, as we have also mentioned in recent days, have reached record levels. And precisely in this context, the “Wood Exchange” could enhance what for Italy is a heritage that has not been exploited in the best way over the years. Assolegno, the national association of wood builders, part of FederlegnoArredo, has found that, despite the 11 million hectares present in our borders, over 85 percent of the wood is imported from abroad.

“The “Italian Wood Exchange” project – Angelo Luigi Marchetti anticipated before the meeting – is a digital platform to approach not only supply and demand for wood-based assortments made through the local forestry, but also a virtual place in which to make dialogue between the industrial sector and the world of research. Italy can no longer afford not to exploit 33 percent of its forest territory and the Italian Wood Exchange can represent an answer in this sense“.
