Wde Maspell at Xylexpo, Pagnozzi (Ceo): “Great satisfaction”.

“We are happy to have been at Xylexpo,” commented Ernesto Guglielmo Pagnozzi, CEO of Wde Maspell, specialized in wood drying systems, about the company’s participation in the latest edition of Xylexpo, staged in Milan from 12 to 15 October. “We have never missed an edition of the fair since 1972, when it was still called Interbimall,” continued Pagnozzi, who emphasised that 2022 is particularly important for the company: “We are celebrating 60 years in business”.
Xylexpo was an opportunity to present the proposed processes and the possible uses of treated wood to the general public. “Vacuum wood drying was invented by our company in 1962, while we have been working on high-temperature vacuum heat treatment since 2008. To date, we have 91 patents to our credit that are valid in more than 50 countries, and in 2018 we obtained recognition from the European Union,” explains Umberto Pagnozzi, advisor and Sales Manager of the company, who highlights the characteristics of wood treated with these procedures: “They increase the stability and durability of the material, which acquires greater thermal and acoustic insulation, as well as taking on darker colour tones.”

Among the advantages of the treatments proposed by Wde Maspell that most attracted the interest of Xylexpo visitors were those related to the eco-friendliness of the system. “The process is carried out without the use of chemical additives, with emissions reduced by 98 per cent and without the use of water for cooling,” explained sales manager Alessio Lucarelli, highlighting how “the improved performance and the colour taken on by the wood after processing make it possible to use even less valuable material instead of that imported from Africa or South America, with clear advantages in terms of reducing deforestation and the polluting emissions that transport by sea would cause. Vacuum heat-treated wood, after all, is extremely high-performance and can be used in many applications, both for exteriors and interiors: from construction to shipbuilding, including the creation of furnishings, decking, saunas, doors and windows”.
