LCR focuses on automation, “batch one” and tailor-made packaging

Process automation, digital line management and the production of tailor-made packaging are among the key themes of the solutions developed by LCR Macchine Automatiche, a company specializing in systems for industrial packaging in corrugated cardboard, which in early 2026 presented the latest developments in its product range.

The company’s activity focuses in particular on technologies for the just-in-time production of corrugated cardboard boxes, an area in which the growing demand for flexibility and customization is changing the traditional logic of industrial packaging. The automatic die-cutting machines developed by LCR are designed to produce packaging sized according to the actual characteristics of the product, with the aim of reducing the amount of material used, shipping volumes and the use of fillers.

Alongside waste reduction, one of the aspects highlighted by the company is the possibility of managing production processes characterized by high variability, including frequent format changes and “batch one” applications, which are increasingly widespread in sectors linked to logistics, manufacturing and e-commerce. This context also includes the automatic hot melt forming machines and automatic box-closing stations developed by LCR, designed to integrate into existing production lines and automate the different stages of packaging.

Particular attention has also been paid to the software integration of the systems. LCR develops digital systems for line control, production data monitoring and the management of operating configurations. Available functions include real-time supervision of operations, automated format change management and integration with company management systems, elements that make it possible to coordinate the different stages of the production process and reduce machine downtime.

The company’s solutions also include end-of-line systems, with robotic palletizing plants, anthropomorphic robots and vision systems developed to automate handling and pallet composition. These technologies are intended above all for production environments characterized by high variability and the need to maintain operational continuity even with different product configurations.

The range is completed by solutions for labelling and direct printing on cardboard, integrated directly into the production line to manage marking, identification and packaging customization without external steps.

The growing focus on material optimization, reduction of logistics costs and production flexibility is accelerating the adoption of automated packaging systems, especially in sectors where operational speed and customization are now central elements of production organization”, the company explained.
