Homag Treff 2026: technologies, automation and digitalisation in the spotlight

Nearly 2,000 visitors from more than 50 countries. These are the figures for Homag Treff 2026, held from 22 to 25 September at Homag’s Schopfloch and Holzbronn sites in Germany.

Over four days, the German manufacturer presented machines, automated cells and digital solutions covering the different stages of woodworking, from panel sizing and edge banding to Cnc machining, nesting and window production. Automation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the shortage of skilled personnel were among the other topics addressed during talks and meetings held throughout the event.

In panel sizing, one of the new products on display was the “Sawteq S-190”, developed to bring Homag technology into a more accessible investment range. Also featured was the “Sawteq S-200 flexTec”, a hybrid robotic saw presented with a new solution for pallet unloading at floor level, while a special version of the “Sawteq S-300” was introduced to mark the 60th anniversary of the Sawteq range.

There was also a strong focus on edge banding, with solutions ranging from stand-alone machines to automated and robot-assisted lines. Rather than concentrating on a single machine, the emphasis was on the integration of edge banders, return systems, handling equipment, robots and software, with the possibility of progressively increasing the level of automation according to production volumes and requirements.

Cnc and automation

There were several new developments in the Cnc area as well. The new “Drillteq V-110”, an entry-level vertical solution, concentrates the main machining operations within a footprint of around 5 square metres and is aimed primarily at craft businesses and companies with limited production space.

For higher production volumes, Homag presented the “Drillteq H-610”, a six-sided machining centre equipped with two pairs of clamps capable of passing each other, a solution designed to reduce non-productive times during workpiece handling.

With the new “Centateq N-310”, the manufacturer brings five-axis nesting and the machining of shaped components to the compact mid-range segment.

Robotics and automation were also central to the “Centateq P/E-310” and “Centateq P/E-510”. The former was shown in a robot-integrated configuration designed to reduce manual handling operations, while on the latter the focus was on automated tooling options and flexibility in Cnc machining.

For window production, the “Centateq S-800/900” was presented in a configuration designed for the continuous production of different components, combining productivity and flexibility.

Software, data and artificial intelligence

Machines, however, were only one part of the programme at Homag Treff. Another important area focused on digital production management and, in particular, on Homag Intelligence and the Homag Digital Platform.

The aim is to create closer links between the different stages of the process, from sales and planning through to production, using data generated by the machines to improve visibility across production flows and identify potential areas for optimisation.

Artificial intelligence and cybersecurity were also discussed during the eight live talks held over the four days, together with the growing difficulty companies face in finding skilled personnel. Automation and digitalisation can provide at least a partial response to this issue, particularly in repetitive activities and workpiece handling.

A focus on craft businesses as well

The event also saw the return of the Craftsman Days, dedicated to the needs of craft businesses and small and medium-sized companies.

Alongside machine demonstrations, the programme involved 24 specialist exhibitors, including manufacturers of tools, hardware, adhesives, edge banding technologies and services. Dürr, Benz, Schuler Consulting and tapio were also present, with solutions dedicated respectively to production processes, tooling, consulting and digitalisation.

The presence of such a broad range of technologies highlighted one of the key themes to emerge from Homag Treff 2026: automation is no longer confined to large industrial lines, but is increasingly entering smaller-scale plants and companies as well.

The level of automation naturally varies according to production volumes and organisation, but the direction indicated in Schopfloch is clear: machines, robots, software and handling systems are set to interact more and more closely.
