Brazil: particleboard exports continue to grow

18/07/2022

That 2021 was a particularly positive year is now well established, but 2022 is also confirming upward numbers in almost all sectors and countries that lead one to view the second half of the year with optimism, despite the hot situation (in terms of climate and tensions) that is currently affecting the Old Continent. Numbers that also highlight how much South American markets are expanding. The value of Brazilian particleboard exports, for example, reached $55.70 million in the first five months of 2022, a significant 45.5 percent increase over the $38.27 million exported in the five months of 2021. And a 61.2 percent increase from the $34.65 million exported in the same period in 2019.

Brazil’s exports of particleboard to Peru ($16.52 million), China ($13.57 million) and Colombia ($9.97 million), the three main foreign markets, showed remarkable growth during the period and grew by 75.6 percent, 151.3 percent and 69.9 percent, respectively, and accounted for 72.3 percent of total exports. Brazil’s exports to Bolivia, on the other hand, reached $7.56 million in the five months of 2022, 56.2 percent more than the same period in 2021 ($4.84 million).
