“International Design Award”: starting signal fired
On 1st October 2010 started signal fired for registrations for the eighth International Design Award 2011. Students of architecture and design have to submit their entries by 31st January 2011. The re-structured concept for the largest student design competition simplifies participation and rewards universities setting and submitting a term/semester project assignment. Hettich International, important producer of hardware for furniture, is working again together with Rehau to sponsor and organize this competition.
The International Design Award 2011 is looking for interior designs as well as furniture concepts and systems that best meet the requirements of the next decade. The competition assignment relates to the three areas of living room and bedroom, kitchen and food preparation as well as office workplaces. Registrations can be made on the official website at www.internationaldesignaward.com.
For the first time, entries for the International Design Award can be submitted by electronic means. An international panel of adjudicators will be judging the entries and announcing the prize winners on 1 and 2 March 2011 at Herford’s MARTa Museum.
The five best designs will receive the International Design Award sculpture. Each of the winning students will also be given prize money of 2,000 Euros. The awards will be presented at a ceremony organised at the university or college of those winning the award by Hettich and Rehau in conjunction with the educational institution.
