Japan supports the environment
The Japanese ministry of agriculture, forestry and fisheries released forestry and forest industry revitalization plan: from a concrete society to a wood society. Placing importance on a developmental strategy based on the environment, this plan makes a point of planning for the revitalization of forestry management and the timber industry and for regional revitalization, which includes employment, by centering on strengthening stability in supplying lumber. With the plan also targeting a self-sufficiency percentage of 50 percent for timber by 2020 and expanding lumber production from the current 18 million cubic meters annually to 40-50 million cubic meters, it is expected to be a large measure of support for forestry management and the timber industry.
