Also Kölnmesse will reduce its staff

During the press conference organized to present the balance, Gerald Böse, the spokesman of the board of directors, said that Kölnmesse is willing to reduce its staff. The company organizing Interzum and Imm as well currently employs 647 people of which 450 are working for Kölnmesse gmbh and 130 in foreign subsidiaries. Dismissals are not expected but the company will use fluctuations and retirement.
In 2008, Kölnmesse reached a turnover of 191.7 million euros, much lower than 2006 turnover (216.1 million euros). The most significant reduction was recorded in terms of visitors ( – 25 percent) while the number of exhibitors was subject to a 11 percent drop. The year closed with a negative result (-1.1 million euros) against + 24.5 million euros in 2006. However we have to consider that in 2006 balance the rent costs of new halls were not included.
