The world of wood in Bogotá

The ninth edition of the exhibition “Muestra para el sector del mueble y la madera” closed on the 8 March. The biennial exhibition dedicated to woodworking machinery and components for the furniture industry was held in the capital of Colombia, Bogotà, in the Corferias exhibition centre.
There were about 190 exhibitors in two halls. The center covered an 8 thousand square meter area. According to the organizers, the number of visitors amounted to 14,000.
All international leading companies took part in the exhibition through their representatives, except for Homag that presented its solutions directly.
Italy featured the most relevant presence without any doubts. Then there were Taiwanese and Chinese manufacturers, which attended the exhibition with a more limited but visible presence.

Among South-American markets, the Colombian scenario is one of the few markets proving a certain dynamicity. In 2007 – according to the figures recently released by Istat, the Italian Statistics Institute – Italian export increased by 42 percent over the same period of the previous year, reaching a total of 4 million Euros.
