Salone del Mobile.Milano lands in Hong Kong with Art Basel: Italian design conquers Asia

The Salone del Mobile.Milano is accelerating its path toward internationalization and strengthening its partnership with Art Basel by landing in Hong Kong, one of the leading hubs of global collecting. After its debut at Art Basel Miami Beach, the Italian exhibition is curating the Collectors Lounge also for the Asian edition of the fair, consolidating its presence in contexts where art, design, and the market converge.
The new Collectors Lounge, designed by Lissoni & Partners, brings together some of the most representative companies of Italian design – including Artemide, B&B Italia, Flos, Kartell, and Molteni&C – expressing a production system capable of combining manufacturing heritage, innovation, and dialogue with the contemporary languages of art and architecture. The initiative is part of a strategy aimed at positioning design as a cultural and economic driver within the most influential international circuits.

With Art Basel Hong Kong, we are taking a key step in the Salone’s internationalization journey,” said president Maria Porro, highlighting the city’s strategic role as a gateway to Asian markets, particularly China, Japan, and South Korea. An area where demand for design is evolving and becoming increasingly articulated.
The presence in Hong Kong is part of a path already launched in 2024, with the participation of SaloneSatellite in the International Design Furniture Fair Hong Kong. The goal, Porro explains, is not only to enter new markets but to build relationships and connections within high-value cultural and economic ecosystems.
Alongside its participation in Art Basel, the Salone is also introducing new initiatives such as “Salone Raritas,” dedicated to unique pieces and limited editions, and is strengthening international dialogue through Italian Design Day, confirming the global role of Italian design at the intersection of culture, business, and investment.
