“Biesse On Tour Italy Edition”: second appointment in Venezia

31/03/2026

A journey through materials, innovation and design culture: this is the spirit of “Biesse On Tour Italy Edition”, the traveling format promoted by Biesse – the Pesaro-based group specializing in solutions for material processing – which moves across some of the most iconic places of Italian design to explore the infinite expressive possibilities of materials. The initiative takes the form of a series of meetings dedicated to multimateriality, with the aim of concretely showing how technology and creativity can shape new design solutions. At the core is the dialogue between industry, designers and academia to interpret the challenges of contemporary and future living, enhancing the “know-how” of Made in Italy, where function and aesthetics merge with the human and emotional dimension.

Among the key themes emerging during the tour are the need to strengthen collaboration across the entire design supply chain and the urgency of adopting sustainable production models. Rethinking processes and materials, limiting waste and prioritizing natural resources is no longer just a trend, but a shared priority for the sector.
The project stems from the meeting of the visions of Yelda Akıncı Bostan, managing director of Biesse Türkiye and Middle East, and Esmer Erdem, art and design project manager. “The Biesse Design Lab Project aims to go beyond the concept of a company focused exclusively on production technologies, to become a platform capable of supporting design and creativity. The integration between the ideas of young designers and real technologies will generate value for industry and the entire creative ecosystem,” Bostan said.

The second stop of the tour is scheduled for May 30 in Venice and will be dedicated to glass, a material symbolic of Italian tradition and innovation: versatile, high-performing and 100 percent recyclable. Not by chance, the lagoon city – the historic cradle of “Made in Italy” glass – hosted the meeting, held at Iuav University, a center of academic excellence in design disciplines.
During the event, industry experts, academics and entrepreneurs discussed the prospects of industrial glass, between technological evolution, new design trends and sustainability. Among the speakers were Professor Maria Antonia Barucco, coordinator of the Iuav Glass Cluster, Professor Elti Cattaruzza of Ca’ Foscari University Venice, and Massimo Gobbini, CEO of Artelinea, together with other leading players in the sector. Also present was Fabrizio Cattaneo, director of Gimav, the association representing Italian manufacturers of technologies and solutions for glass processing.
