Jowat invests in Switzerland: green light for production site expansion

14/04/2026

As part of a long-term growth strategy and consolidation of its presence in Europe, Jowat announces the expansion of its Swiss production site in Buchrain, alongside a renewal of its governance and a reorganization of its commercial activities in the DACH area. The project, already approved from a construction standpoint, involves the development of a new facility made of glued laminated timber, built using the same adhesives produced by the company: a choice that combines sustainability, innovation, and a practical demonstration of the performance of its materials.
What began nearly a century ago as the production of simple natural glues has now evolved into a global center of expertise for polyurethane adhesives. Jowat Swiss is now continuing this development path with the project of a new plant at its Swiss headquarters. The expansion of the production site, decided by the Board of Directors, has already received the necessary construction permits. The new structure will be built with a load-bearing framework in glued laminated timber, produced using Jowat adhesives,” the company explained in a recent press release.

THE NEW FACILITY
Designed with a load-bearing structure in glued timber, the new building combines modern and sustainable construction practices. The new warehouse will offer approximately 1,160 square meters of total surface area and a building volume of about 14,000 cubic meters. The building will measure approximately 46 meters in length, 21 meters in width, and 16 meters in height. The project will be carried out in collaboration with Strüby Konzept, a Swiss specialist in timber structures, acting as construction partner. With permits already secured, the project is ready to move to the next phase according to the planned timeline.

CHANGES IN LEADERSHIP
Anton Rüegg steps down as head of Jowat Swiss at the end of his term. The Board of Directors appoints Olaf Meincke as the new CEO, while he retains his role on the board of Jowat SE. Operational management remains entrusted to authorized officers Simone Kaiser for the commercial area and Marcel Widin for the technical area.
Jowat is also reorganizing its commercial activities in the DACH region under unified leadership. The Swiss sales structure is being integrated into the German one. The new organization is led by Kay-Henrik von der Heide, with strategic and operational responsibility across the entire region. The Swiss sales team and customer service are being incorporated into the new structure.
