Hymmen at Tech-Together 2026: surfaces, digital printing and data in focus
Digital printing, surface finishing, lamination and tools for analysing production processes. These were some of the main themes of the open house organised by Hymmen on 22 and 23 September at its Technical Center in Rödinghausen, Germany, as part of Tech-Together 2026.
The initiative, which brings together several companies from the industrial region of Ostwestfalen-Lippe, is designed to concentrate a series of open-house events dedicated to woodworking technologies within just a few days. Alongside Hymmen, the 2026 edition also involved Düspohl, Kuper, Jowat, Heesemann, MB Maschinenbau and Wehrmann.
More than 50 visitors came to Rödinghausen from the DACH region, Scandinavia, the Benelux countries, Southern Europe and Turkey. According to Hymmen, several meetings developed into discussions on concrete projects, both for production lines and for “smart2i Industry Intelligence”, the company’s solution for monitoring and optimising production.
Digital printing and surfaces
Among the technologies presented during the two-day event, particular attention was given to digital printing for décor and texture applications, with the “Jupiter”, “Saturn” and “DLEplus” solutions, the latter standing for Digital Lacquer Embossing. These technologies are already well established in the flooring sector, but according to the company are also finding growing applications in furniture and building materials.
Among the new developments was “Echo”, a technology for the digital printing of uniform solid-colour areas for furniture, flooring and building materials. The name stands for “Easy Color Calibration & Homogeneous Output”, and the system uses software optimisation to achieve homogeneous colour surfaces.
In lamination, Hymmen presented an application implemented at Gyllensvaan in Sweden, combining precise flat lamination with edge wrapping using a wrapping line. Samples taken directly from production were available at the Technical Center to show the results of the process.
Also on display were high-gloss and super-matt surfaces produced using the “Calender Coating Inert”, CCI process, applications that continue to see significant demand in the furniture sector.
From coating to Engineered Wood
One of the live applications focused on coating and gluing edge materials, with demonstrations on furniture panels, formwork panels and wood lamellas.
The latter were subsequently pressed in the laboratory to produce surface layers, giving visitors an insight into Hymmen technologies for Engineered Wood. CPL and other products manufactured using the company’s continuous double-belt press technology were also on display.
The digital component connected the various technologies. “smart2i Industry Intelligence”, installed on the lines in the Technical Center, is designed to collect and use production data with the aim of optimising processes, reducing material costs and maintaining more consistent product quality.
The Rödinghausen open house therefore fitted into the Tech-Together format, allowing visitors to concentrate meetings and demonstrations at several manufacturers in the same geographical area over just a few days, creating a route through different technologies and applications.
