Design, technology and sustainability: the Decor Leader experience

Decor Leader focuses on innovation and sustainability for the future of thermoplastic edging.
With a new water-based digital system and the progressive adoption of polypropylene, the Vallefoglia-based company strengthens its commitment to more efficient, low-impact production. A path supported by investments in research and a certification plan oriented toward quality and environmental responsibility.

Following the positive feedback received at the latest edition of Sicam, Decor Leader continues to invest in research and innovation to strengthen its position in the thermoplastic edging sector. The Vallefoglia (PU)-based company – specialized in the production of ABS and PP edging made with digital printing technology – focuses on the integration of aesthetic quality, production efficiency and attention to sustainability, with a clear and concrete vision driving toward a modern, efficient and responsible production model.

SUSTAINABILITY AT THE CORE

Sustainability is no longer just a goal, but a guiding principle that runs throughout the entire production cycle. Decor Leader has adopted an integrated approach to the reduction of environmental impact, acting on both materials and processes. The first step was the conversion of the supply chain, aimed at selecting suppliers who share the same ‘green’ philosophy,” the company explained. At the same time, water-based ecological primers, coatings and inks with solvent-free formulations were introduced, helping to significantly reduce emissions.

NEW WATER-BASED DIGITAL SYSTEM

The company has taken a decisive step forward with the arrival of the new water-based digital printing system, a state-of-the-art solution that represents – according to Decor Leader – an absolute “industry first” in the sector of ABS and PP edging.

“The line, after extensive testing at our supplier’s facilities, has begun its transfer to its final location and will be operational for the first fine-tuning during the first four months of 2026. This technology, the result of years of research and investment, enables us to achieve extraordinary color rendering and optimal definition, ensuring perfect adhesion between the edge and the surface. The use of water-based inks also drastically reduces the environmental impact of production, almost completely eliminating harmful emissions and simplifying industrial waste management. The result is a ‘clean’ technology that combines sustainability, efficiency and quality: three core values in the Decor Leader philosophy,” the company continues.

TOWARD THE FUTURE WITH POLYPROPYLENE (PP)

At the same time, the company is working intensively on the full industrialization of polypropylene (PP), a material that – they assure in Vallefoglia – represents the future of sustainable production in the edging world.
“Deliveries to our customers who have decided to embrace this new material began four months ago.
Thanks to its intrinsic characteristics of lightness, mechanical strength and full recyclability, PP is now considered the best alternative to traditional ABS. Polypropylene makes it possible to combine technical performance with environmental responsibility,” they continue.

CERTIFICATIONS AND NEW GOALS

Decor Leader’s commitment to quality is also confirmed by a structured certification pathway. “In 2024 the company obtained ISO 9001 certification, but the most ambitious target is already set. The process has begun and by 2026 the goal is to achieve ISO 14001 certification, dedicated to environmental management systems. The decision to focus on certified processes is not only a guarantee for customers, but also a sign of transparency toward the entire supply chain. In a sector where sustainability sometimes risks being reduced to a slogan, Decor Leader proves its commitment with concrete actions,” the company concluded.

DECOR LEADER
Decor Leader was founded on the experience in the edging sector of Daniele Martelloni, who decided to leverage his skills by starting his own business. A true “start-up” dedicated exclusively to the production of edges using digital technologies.
The project achieved a significant growth step thanks also to the important experience of Filippo Ciamaglia with digital technology: a “marriage” that works and has delivered important results from the very beginning.
Today, Decor Leader is a company specialized in the production of thermoplastic edging, finished and enhanced exclusively with digital printing for the furniture sector, with around forty employees operating in Vallefoglia, in the province of Pesaro-Urbino, in a facility of approximately 8,000 square meters.

ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION
In 2026 Decor Leader will begin the process to obtain ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems.
The certification will make it possible to systematically monitor energy consumption, waste management and the impact of production activities, ensuring regulatory compliance and reduction of the carbon footprint.
This structured approach will allow the company to integrate sustainability into production processes, supporting the development of high-quality edging with lower environmental impact.

40 EMBOSSING OPTIONS
Decor Leader presented during the latest edition of Sicam in Pordenone the new embossing effects developed over recent months, expanding the current range to 40 options.
The first finish was created in collaboration with “Fine Decor”, to match metal-effect edges with their new PET foil collection, while the second reflects current textile trends, with bold geometries and perfect visual and tactile consistency, expanding the matching possibilities toward a type of decorative solution that is increasingly present in high-quality wardrobe interiors.
