What can we say? How many words have already been spoken and how many more will be spoken about sustainability and the thousand issues connected to it? Rivers, seas, oceans of words, meetings, seminars, events, studies and in-depth analyses to say what, deep down, we have known for a long time: everything we do, from the smallest gesture to the most striking decision, has an impact on the world we live in. Any impact. Wherever it happens. Whether for the noblest reason or to bring war or destruction.
We have not yet managed to teach everyone not to throw cigarette butts on the ground, just to mention an apparent triviality, and yet we already have to deal with the impact that space activities, indispensable for what we have decided our lives must be, to the point of having grown more than exponentially over the past fifty years, are having and will soon have, even in terms of safety, if new protocols are not defined, if different and shared awareness is not awakened.
Please, do not worry: we will not join the generalist chorus for long. What matters to us is to gladly acknowledge the stories we tell on these pages, different but concrete examples, “solid” proof of how everyone must do their part, from individuals to companies, from institutions to governments.
Something is moving within our supply chain. A great deal in some cases. In others, one could certainly go further. We will, and in these pages we mention a few examples. At last a concept is starting to make its way forward, albeit still with too much effort: “One Health”. A “single health”, an indispensable balance between humankind, the animal world and the plant kingdom. It is the only way to make it, bringing together techniques and disciplines that look at the world and the space around it with a new spirit, playing a new kind of music… (l.r.)
