FederlegnoArredo’s Asal Assoallestimenti celebrates its 50th anniversary

Asal Assoallestimenti, the association that brings together Italian companies operating in the field of trade fair, exhibition, display and event set-ups, celebrated its fiftieth anniversary with an event hosted at the Triennale Milano.
The occasion offered the opportunity to retrace the history of the association, founded in 1975 when around twenty companies joined forces to create a body capable of representing their interests in a rapidly expanding market. Since then, Asal has accompanied the evolution of the sector, providing concrete support to its members in their relations with trade fair organisations, public and private institutions, ministries and museum bodies. Today the association represents over 150 companies across the entire supply chain.

We are experiencing a moment of profound transformation in the exhibition set-up market. While I am honoured by the trust placed in me by the colleagues who elected me as the new president, I also feel the full responsibility of leading the association through this important and delicate phase of change,” said the newly appointed president of Asal Assoallestimenti, Marco Fogarolo. “The intention is to continue along the path traced by my predecessor, with whom I have always collaborated very positively and whom I sincerely thank for his work, while at the same time responding promptly to the needs of member companies as they face new challenges, with the aim of strengthening the role of the association as a point of reference for the entire supply chain.”

The president of FederlegnoArredo, Claudio Feltrin, also highlighted the central role of ASAL within the Federation, emphasising how the ability to create high-quality temporary architectures significantly contributes to the storytelling and visibility of exhibiting companies at major trade events in Italy and abroad.

During the event, it was reiterated that sustainability is now a strategic priority for the wood–furniture supply chain and for the exhibition set-up sector. Design attention—from the overall concept to the selection of materials, finishes, technologies and modular solutions—was identified as the key lever for ensuring lower-impact interventions. “Sustainability, in fact, depends on a design approach that makes use of low-impact materials, components that can be reused, careful end-of-life management and efficient logistics, while at the same time strengthening the value of Made in Italy worldwide. It is also important to remember that workplace safety in environments with such high levels of interference is a priority for Asal companies,” the press release stated.

During the event, awards were presented to those who have contributed to the development of the association and the sector over the past fifty years: Allestimenti Arianese Srl; Allestimenti Benfenati Spa; Artes Group International Srl; Arved Sistemi Modulari Srl; Barberini Allestimenti Srl; Casasola Srl; Fogarolo Allestimenti Srl; Fraco Snc di Giancarlo Bergamasco e C.; FTR Allestimenti Srl; Heron International Srl; Il Modulo di Gamba Srl; Interfiere Srl; Jolli Allestimenti Srl; O.P.R. S.p.A.; Plotini Allestimenti Srl; Prezioso Leonardo Srl; Progetto Srl; Stipa Spa; Way Spa; Xilografia Nuova Srl. A special award was presented to Pierpaolo Vaj for the decisive role he played in the founding of the association.
