Sicam 2011: the October event is growing strong

The journey continues towards the third edition of Sicam – the International Exhibition of Components, Semi-finished Products and Accessories for the Furniture Industry – to be held from 19th to 22nd October 2011, reconfirming its profitable collaboration with the Pordenone trade fair district.

As of the end of April more than 450 companies have confirmed their presence at the event and over 95 percent of the available exhibition space has already been allocated. In addition to the large presence of “made in Italy” companies, Sicam also boasts the important participation of foreign exhibitors to arrive in Pordenone from over 25 countries. These are led by Germany and Austria, followed by Spain and Turkey: countries which have always been protagonists of the international manufacturing of supplies and semi-finished products for the furniture industry, reasserting the top value of the event organised by Exposicam.
This global quality also corroborates the trade fair’s success in visitor numbers: there were 18,000 in 2010, including 26 percent from 83 different countries, and for the 2011 edition the same result is expected to be repeated, if not bettered.

This important result consolidates Sicam as the annual convention for the furniture sector and its entire network in Italy. Every country with important furniture production hosts an event each year: Sicam has become the point of reference not only for the domestic market, but also for operators from all over the world, given its strong international appeal. It has carved out a prominent position on the global trade fair scene, placed second only to Interzum.
Sicam is a large trade fair with fully comprehensive proposition: from big hardware brands to decorators, veneers to domestic appliances, furniture fronts to wood, upholstery to adhesives and laquers.

“Sicam has always had a clear idea of its role,” commented Carolina Giobbi, head of communication and external relations for the event. “We know what our exhibitors and visitors expect from us and we work to give stature to their desires. We have always been active in trade fair events all over the world to spread the word about what goes on at Pordenone. The ongoing rise in the number of operators who arrive from all around the globe shows us that we are making the right choices. We know what our prerogatives need to be; we know the limits within which the market expects Sicam to work in. A balance, a vision which enabled us to achieve our objective, i.e. to be the only meeting place for the industry in Italy, the reference event that our country needs, in light of extremely strong Italian production which – though in the context of a trade fair which by now has international significance – without doubt has its own privileged shop window at Pordenone”.

It is an event which, as the operators know well, is the outcome of a recipe made up of excellent ingredients: the fact that it takes place in a pole where a vital part of Italian furniture and furnishings production is concentrated; the choice of a “people-friendly” trade fair district; as mentioned above, having always worked hard at getting the event known in all the important worldwide centres; meticulous organisation which gives exhibitors and visitors the luxury of thinking only of their business; and a city and a region which provide a worthy backdrop to the event, grasping its importance and contributing substantially to its success.

This edition will avail of an important intervention which will improve access to the Pordenone trade fair district even further, thanks to the opening of the Conegliano link road. By taking the Mestre link road, motorists can avoid returning onto the A4 by passing directly onto the A27 (the Alemagna Motorway in the direction of Vittorio Veneto) and then take the A28 at Conegliano, continuing towards Portogruaro. This second road will enable people to reach Pordenone in much less time and with much more favourable traffic conditions.
For those travelling from further afield remember our partnership with Lufthansa, the official airline of Sicam, which offers special discounts and advantages (for more information www.exposicam.it/english/lufthansa.asp).

For the upcoming Sicam 2011 plans are at an advanced stage for a series of events and opportunities that will contribute to the quality of the event and the time operators will spend at Pordenone. Many initiatives will bring the city of Pordenone to life; the most significant is probably the agreement signed with the organisers of the wonderful exhibition “Espressionismo” (Expressionism). Under this agreement, the exhibit will remain open late in the evening for Sicam, in order to enable exhibitors and visitors to visit it without difficulty and free of charge (the trade fair entry pass acts as a ticket).
The “Espressionismo” exhibition, curated by Marco Goldin and Magdalena Moeller, will be inaugurated at Villa Manin on September 24th and will remain open until March 4th. It is organised with the crucial collaboration of Berlin’s Brücke Museum (for more information go to www.villamanin-eventi.it/mostra_espressionismo.php).

The fourth edition of Sicam will be held at the Pordenone trade fair area from 17th to 20th October 2012. The event has been announced well in advance in order to enable operators to plan their appointments.
