Presented today in Milan, during a crowded press conference at Museum of Art and Science of Via Sella, the 2012 edition of the “couple” Holz/Handwerk and Fensterbau/Frontale, an appointment that will animate the city of Nuremberg from 21 to 24 March next year.
An event that is gradually increasing from year to year its importance and that this edition can also count on the patronage of Eumabois, the federation gathering 14 European associations of wood technology manufacturers.
The organizers are confident that will be an excellent edition, also strong for the success in 2010 but above that, as emerged from the press conference, the category in Germany called “craft”, i.e. small and medium wood enterprises to which Holz-Handwerk is dedicated, is enjoying a particularly good season. “A real boom,” as defined by Stefan Dittrich, project manager of the exhibition..
In Nuremberg are expected 1,200 exhibitors (500 just for Holz-Handwerk, including 19 Italians) involved in the production of doors, windows, facades and solutions for woodworking and its derivatives.
During the press conference Dennis Bieselt of Vdma, the German association of manufacturers of woodworking machinery, has provided some data to journalists. First he mentioned the apparent recovery of German production, which should be around 2.5 billion euros in 2011, with a forecast to reach 2.7 in 2012. We are still far from the record on 2007 (3 billion euros), but the escalation from 1.9 billion euros of the bad year 2009 is evident.
In percentage terms Vdma analysts expect, considering the drop that in recent weeks has involved also the production of woodworking machinery in Germany, an increase of 14 percent compared to 2010 and a further increase between 2 and 5 percent in 2012 compared to the current year.
Giving a look at the import-export data for the period January-August 2011, there are not good news for Italy: our exports to Germany decreased compared to the first eight months of 2010, as much as 34 percent. In contrast, only 3 percent of German production arrives in Italy, against the 13 percent who takes the road to China, the 9 percent sold in Russia or the 8 percent that goes to Turkey.
