Indiawood 2008: an outstanding result

The fifth edition of Indiawood closed on a high with glowing reports from exhibitors and visitors alike. For the first time, Indiawood was staged at the brand-new Bangalore International Exhibition Centre and the spacious, modern venue was greatly appreciated by all. At a glance, there were over 400 exhibitors of which approximately 55 percent were international. As the largest woodworking exhibition outside the Usa and Europe – with a gross area of around 25,000 square meters, Indiawood 2008 was a truly international event and the show is now definitely positioned itself as an ‘anchor event’ in the ‘A list’ of shows globally. Visitor numbers increased dramatically to over 18,000, despite being at the new venue. The general feeling from exhibitors was that the quality of buyers was beyond expectations. Total business worth over 20 million Us dollars was transacted with a further 250 million Us dollars expected to be converted after Indiawood 2008. According to the president of Eumabois, Franz-Josef Buetfering, “Indiawood 2008 has presented the best technologies that the country needs to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for new buildings and wooden products.”
In response to the needs of the booming Indian economy and particularly woodworking sector, Delhiwood was launched during Indiawood and it will take place in February, 2009. The next edition of Indiawood will be in early 2010 in Bangalore.
