With a production able to meet the demand and to increase the quality standards of the packaging sector, in the third quarter of 2018 the Epal pallet market recorded an overall increase of 7 percent with 2,574,148 pallets placed on the market between July and September 2018 for a total of 7,933,714 units, if we add also the results of the first two quarters of the year. The quarterly analysis of Conlegno, the Consortium for the protection of wood that covers the role of manager of the Epal brand for Italy, confirms the welfare status of the sector.
The most important growth concerned the segment of “new”, which in the third quarter recorded a jump in production of 7 percent, with 1,602,811 units, compared to the same period of 2017. More moderate but positive the figure on the “repair” segment which marks an increase of 2 percent, for a total of 971,337 pallets. “The continuous growth of the pallet market is representative of the good state of health of the economy as a whole – explains Davide Dellavalle, Coordinator of the Epal Italia Technical Committee – A greater demand for Epal brand packaging by companies is a sign of an increase in consumption and trade in goods within the national market, especially in the large retail sector “.
The data related to the production of new pallets added to the previous semester underline an overall growth of 15 percent compared to 2017, with 4,890,550 units realized. Repaired pallets stopped at 3,043,164, a decrease of 1 percent. Overall, 7,933,714 units were produced between new and repaired Epal pallets, an increase compared to the previous year which stood at 8 percent.
